Highland Park Trivia

Welcome to my Highland Park Website, I hope you enjoy your visit. Some time ago I purchased the book, Memories of Highland Park, by Henry J. Wise (2003). Although we grew up in different decades and eras, his stories brought back a lot of memories both of my time spent in Highland park and stories I have heard from my Dad, and my Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.

For those visitors that are not familiar with the area of Highland Park, Highland Park started as farmland and was developed into a city. It became a city in 1890, was annexed by the City of Louisville in 1922, and the plan for acquisition of the area was announced in 1987. The land and area that made up Highland park was taken for the expansion of Louisville International Airport. I would greatly appreciate hearing from more previous residents or families. I would like to share stories and pictures.

I have added a link to the favorite links page, to Darren's page of pictures of the current state of the highland park area. It saddens me deeply to see it so unkept.

I am very interested in pictures and I am willing to meet with anyone willing to share their pictures. I would love to include as many pictures from different time periods as possible. I recently received several very nice pictures from one of the Silverman's Grandsons and will be taking down the pics of the school and putting up the Silverman pictures.

A little bit about my family in Highland Park. I have a postmark on the pictures page of a postmark on a letter sent from my Great-Grandparents in Mammoth Cave to my Great-Uncle in Highland Park, KY. My aunt, uncle and cousins lived on Park Blvd. My Aunt lived at 4311 Park Blvd. I remember going to visit often and playing on the swings and monkey bars in front of their house while my family sat on the front porch and visited. I remember going to the Fish Fry at the Masonic Lodge and sitting on Santa's lap at Silvermans'.
